July 06, 2009 - Elsevier Masson chooses Sinequa’s search engine to improve their online services for health industry professionals
Elsevier Masson, the leading francophone medical and paramedical publisher has selected Sinequa’s search and navigation engine to improve their online services for health industry professionals. Sinequa’s solution meets two objectives: adding value to Elsevier Masson’s ultra-specialized health industry content and boosting the sale of content via the web. Today Sinequa is the point of entry on the e-commerce web site www.elsevier-masson.fr and on Elsevier Masson’s online digital library « EM|consulte » www.em-consulte.com.
Elsevier Masson publishes over 130 journals, 78 EMC treaties, and 220 books annually and contains over 1500 books in its catalog. The entire catalog is available for download on its e-commerce web site, with products also for sale in various electronic media formats (e-books, DVD, CD-ROM, etc.).
The EM|consulte web site contains all the articles published in Elsevier Masson journals and in all EMC treaties. This collection, unique in both its size and the quality of its content is accessible with a few clicks. The 50,000 registered users benefit from all the rich functionalities offered by the web to find the right medical and paramedical information: fast response time, ease of navigation, availability of content, automatic alerts for new offerings, and a customizable personal space (industry intelligence, favorites, shopping cart...).
Sinequa allows users to search through all the content online by keywords and by subject. Customers find the right information quickly in a growing volume of content, thanks to axes of navigation which facilitate sorting by title, related subjects, journal, date, issue... The Elsevier Masson teams have the appropriate search engine tool and exploit it on a daily basis, to meet their needs and those of their customers. Thus, the growing collection is regularly updated. New treaties, articles, books, are continuously added to the catalog, and new formats and media are available and easily accessible.
"We are pleased to have chosen Sinequa for its performance and the quality of service that the engine provides to our web sites," said Sebastian Lequime, Electronic Project Leader, Elsevier Masson. "Our subscribers consult and buy more of our products since the search has been redesigned. The Sinequa search engine is appreciated by our teams for its ease of use and the flexibility it brings to our next stages of development. The Sinequa teams are not only responsive but also a driving force offering new features."
Jean Ferré, President, Sinequa, comments "A good search engine enables publishers to recognize the completeness and wealth of their specialized content. This is what Elsevier Masson offers their customers. This work provides a report mapping all content and catalogs, and meets the high standards of health professionals, who are very demanding in terms of access to information."
